The essence of the controlled release delivery technology used by Larasan is its unrivalled precision and control of the entire continuum of drug delivery. These tablets sense and respond in space and time to the multivariate external environment in the GIT (Gastro Intestinal Track). Internal space-time parameters of the tablet itself are also controlled in order to tailor drug release at any time and to any desired profile. They achieve this with:

Spatial Recognition and Control of the optimum GIT site for drug release

Defensive Control over adverse factors such as food or excess acidity

Control over the time when drug release begins or ends

Control over the physical characteristics of the tablet's solid dosage shape from    ingestion to full release

Rate Control over the entire release profile to deliver true and predetermined    extended release

From the moment a Larasan tablet first enters the gastro-intestinal tract (GIT), it becomes a precision controlled, multi-dimensional drug delivery tool.

First, each tablet is sensitive and responsive to its the position within the GIT space throughout its passage. Active PH monitoring ensures that the intended drug release commences only when the desired location in the GIT is achieved.

Second, the harsh mechanical and chemical effects of a food-rich environment and any excess acidity do not effect the delivery of the tablet.

Third, the time delay before drug release is precisely controlled. For instance, the pharmaceutical activity of a tablet can be delayed from the time of ingestion, say from bedtime until perhaps 5 a.m., if that is the time of greatest pharmacological need in the body. Pulsatile delivery is also enabled. A pulsatile release profile is characterized by a time period of no release (lag time) followed by a rapid and complete drug release.

Further, and most significantly, the drug technology displays its true multi-dimensional potential during the controlled release of its active pharmaceutical ingredients. The mechanics of the delivery system within the tablet enables controlled release at the desired time and location.

The abilities of this delivery technology also enable Larasan to constitute a tablet to provide or duplicate any desired drug delivery profile.
